Ingeborg de Roode Industrial Design Curator at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam
"Rietveld‘s work forms one of the key elements of our collection."
Ida van Zijl, Design curator at Centraal Museum Utrecht
"Rietveld thought that the interior is a background for life. His chairs have become too famous to still be able to take that neutral stance."
Patrick Aarts, Project Manager at BNO
"the academy that‘s named after him – with its monumental light spaces – is still a building that demands admiration for a design that totally reflects its function."
Nicole Bakker, Policy Advisor at Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU)
"I would rather place Rietveld in a line of development than consider his relevance in the 21st century per se."
Bas van Beek, Head of Design Gerrit Rietveld Academie
"There‘s a strange kind of romance surrounding the self-made product."
Gert Staal, Advisor Utrecht Manifest Biennale for Social Design
"For Rietveld, design is ‘social’. That we now have to so explicitly add the word indicates to me that design has cut itself loose from its original meaning, especially in the last decade."
